The background:- There is a growing trend for video companies to offer a combined package of photographs and video. You may think that both use the same skills set but they have no more in common than walking has with dancing. In many cases the only  photography training that they have ever had has been watching qualified photographers at work. The word "package" gives the impression that you can expect to get something of a bargain but that is far from true, as you can get better for around the same price or even less.

Strange as it may seem, sometimes the combined cost for using a skilled Photographer and ourselves is less than the "all in one" option. Typical prices for "all in one" suppliers seem to range from £1800 to £2195. 

I recommend and enjoy working with talented photographers that are "compatible" with video and can deliver high quality imaging, day in and day out --not just on days when it may be relatively easy to get good pictures. You get to choose the style and personalities that you wish to have at your wedding.    You have the assurance that the team can work together amicably without you having to make sacrifices in the quality that you want from the photographs and the video. You can take comfort from the fact that you haven't put all your eggs in one basket.

Where possible I have included a guide price for the 2010 combined services -- not using the cheapest options available but based around the most popular services that we and the photographer provide -- You can choose options that allow you to spend more or less than this. In calculating the combined price we used our Platinum Service at  £780 as we feel it gives the best coverage and value for money -- if you don't want to spend as much as that on the video - well that's ok - just choose the option that you want - do the math and see if the new combined figure suits your budget using the photographer that you prefer. The photographers mentioned also have less expensive options to choose from.

I don't have a guide price for Tom's packages but he has indicated that depending on which of his services you choose then there may be an incentive given if you also book one of the videographers that he feels comfortable in recommending.

                                                 I have had a chance to work with Craig & Eva a few  times now.They work at a good tempo, and put together a nice photoshoot. I get plenty of chances to capture the kind of shots that look great on TV

There are Photographers in Ayrshire and beyond that I never actively recommend because they are incompatible with video.  I prefer to deal with unselfish Photographers that are mature enough to realise that in the long term mutual co-operation works best for us and our customer. There is even one chap that prevents any video being shot of the really nice part of the photosession. I find this very displeasing as I for one am capable of creating equally visually pleasing shots but this is never possible as the Photographer uses up all the available time. If you think about it then you will realise that the customer is the only one that loses out when this happens.

Given the choice I will always put my reputation in the hands of those that I trust.

There are also some photographers that are really exceptionally good to work with but we don't see them often enough to justify an entry eg. -Jim Brennan  -- David Gilbert --- Emma Sanderson
